    Awnings or Glass Overhangs

I am designing a high end home and require an awning style overhang at the entrance. I would like to use a glass awning, modern style rather then a Solid portico roof. I would also like to have it suspended from above the doorway (awning style) rather then having to use posts. Any suggestions please reply.

    Thanks

PS/ must be able to show in three d for clients

Catherina, I would use a polyline slab for this and set the material as glass. You will have to play around with the settings to get it to look just like you want.

    Catherina,

Try using one of the Sunroom items from the Fixture library.
They can be shaped to a certain degree.

Catherina, have you thought of using skylights to get what you want?

    Re: Awnings

I just wanted to say a quick thankyou to all that replied to my Q... You all gave great ideas.... What actually worked for me was isolate my roof using the roof group feature and then changing the material for that specific roof area to glass without ceiling... then i deleted the railings i used to get the roof to form. I know its a bit unconventional, but hey it worked, and even though this isnt engineered soundly it gives the client a 3 d visual and i will then do a cad detail drawing for the proper structure etc. for design and engineering purposes.... BTW Tried the sunroom defaults but sorry not flexible enough the skylight idea gave me my current idea ... so thanks everyone !

I love the way this program makes you think outside of the box..
