What paper are you printing on and what DPI are you printing? 300 DPI will give you a much sharper image, if that is what you desire.

I guess I don't like the house at all. It makes me feel like I'm pulling up to a prison compound. The bars on the windows don't help that fact either.

Also is there a reason why there's only one shutter on the top left window?

The one shutter on the left window does look odd - like the other one fell off... I think it needs a touch of color in the landscaping since the house is so monochromatic. Otherwise your landscaping is very nicely done. I'd probably add just a single color, maybe purple, just in some small flowers as part of a medium sized bush/plant, scattered around your existing landscaping. I think that'd give it a bit more life. And maybe even a few glimpses of flowers in the courtyard or colored pottery urns or something decorative.

The "tower" does seem a bit forbidding. And rather top-heavy for the size of opening under it. I sort of imagine a gate could drop down and seal off the castle... I know you're going for an impressive entry sequence, but you could probably get a similar effect with a little less bulk up top. Maybe if you made the low wall to the left of the tower the same stone as the tower with the red trim topping the wall, it would help balance it out.

You might try adding a bit of light to the interior so the windows wouldn't be quite so dark. That might also help add a bit of life.

Overall, though, a very nice rendering. Nice material selections and colors on the house. I like the lightened up version EAP showed.

John your home design looks great! That tuscan style that you chose is very popular here in northern california right now. The heavy beams, thick stone walls is great! Also your attention to detail is great. In Europe, especially France and Italy, it is very popular to have on smaller windows one large shutter versus two tiny ones. Great job on a beautiful house and good work on doing your research to make your exterior very authentic! Keep up the great work!

    Hey John!
very nice, thanks for sharing, nice landscaping, I like the use of the mulch, I like the stucco color... how about adding an image of a person.... do you think that could work?

    Yea John,
Don't change the shutter, one is best in this app. By the way, how did you create the clay scuppers in the gable end? Is that a 6" dia round window or did you create it out of a cylinder with a hole in it .... I have tried both methods before with mixed results.

That's interesting about the one shutter... I don't get many houses in that style around here so I hadn't seen that before. And the few we do have are such knock-offs of the original style it's hard to recognize what's authentique. Now I know better if I see that again!

Neat house and the setting/landscaping is very realistic.

George, you really hit it with your rendering--great work! Is that all done within Chief?

I've seen a number of historic homes that have small windows with only one shutter. I know it looks odd, but it is historically accurate. Aside from that, it's a great looking house. I like the adjustment George did. If that whole model was done in Chief it's a level of render that we can all aspire to.
