thanks Allen: The "start in low detail" option didn't make much of a change.minimal. I found that turning off all the cabinets layers made the most improvement in speed. I have 6 kitchens in this file with base,wall,countertops etc. That may account for part of the drag. It's doing quite a bit better now. turning off roofs planes and elec. helped some. thanks much. I certainly can't buy another computer yet.
