    I suggest you run a program from this site:

    http://www.crucial.com/

    It will tell you exactly what RAM you have and what you need to upgrade and gives you an idea how much improvement it will make. It runs in IE or you can download a small executable.

    Use with caution, however. I have 4Gig of Ram on Vista 32 bit and it suggested I go to 8. However, the 32 bit version of Vista does not recognize more 4, actually about 3.6Gig.
