Problem with Gable Roof
I have only been working with Chief Architect for about 1 week. So I'm still having some trouble getting things to work!
I am trying to put a gable roof over a covered porch. No matter what I do it will not show the gable roof. I don't know how many times I have opened the wall specification and have chosen Full gable roof, and it still won't appear! The User's Manual isn't helping and I'm quite frustrated. If anyone could help I would really appreciate it!
Thanks!

Which version, I assume it's X1 ?
Post some pics and your plan and someone will be able to help to
help.
Try a simple 4 wall house and place gables and then add a second story and practice setting various walls to gable.
Do you have the trainiing videos ?
There are help database artciles on CA's website that might help.
There are free video's on Louis' site that might help

I have been using AutoBuild for the Roof. I can't do it any other way, yet. I have been able to edit the roof by turning off the AutoBuild. But I still can't get the gable roof! Here's the file, I think I attached it correctly, if not let me know!! Its the front porch that is causing me problems. Thank you for your help!

In general terms, this is the way that I would put a Gable over the entry. Is this what you had in mind? It can be adjusted for better proportion and placement and the returns can be adjusted. The file is attached if you want to look at it. It was done manually. I would put partial returns on all the gables.

George,
That is exactly how I wanted it to look!! I have started drawing on it manually as well but mine is no where near what you have done. I will work more on the manual roof if that is what its going to look like! Thank you so much! This will be a great guide!Lori

Open the Wall dbx under the Gable, go to the Roof Tab and check Auto Roof Return and set your parameters.
