    soffit display problem

I'm using two very small elongated soffits (1" x 1") to represent tension rods (will have turnbuckles) in a kitchen with a vaulted ceiling. One of them disappears when crossing a solid railing wall I used to back up some cabinets in the peninsula. It vanishes in both plan and camera views, but if I select it in plan view, it shows up full length - so it really is there.

If I drag it to the left, so that it doesn't cross the railing wall, it displays OK.

How do I fix this problem?

Can you select it and then select "move to front" so it will display where you want it?

Sounds like that might work, but I don't see that option anywhere - if I click the OPEN OBJECT button or right-click.

How do I get to it?

If you draw them (tie rods) by using a standard cad line (set to line style you want) you can then position them in plan view using "move to front"....

Some objects, such as custom countertops, have this option pop up in the edit toolbar when selected, but the item in question does not allow for it.

    Any other ideas out there?

I'll probably have to do that - just seems redundant, when it should display properly!

Here I created a cad line changed the style to dotted and copied 1" away, then selected both and made them a block. Then selecting the block you can use the move to front or back options under line style.

    Jerry,

The soffit is a cabinet tool. Use a molding polyline for your cables and all will be well.

Also, once blocked you can rename the block put it in the library and use it for future designs....

I would agree with Louis especially if you want them to show in 3d....
