soffit display problem

I'm using two very small elongated soffits (1" x 1") to represent tension rods (will have turnbuckles) in a kitchen with a vaulted ceiling. One of them disappears when crossing a solid railing wall I used to back up some cabinets in the peninsula. It vanishes in both plan and camera views, but if I select it in plan view, it shows up full length - so it really is there.

If I drag it to the left, so that it doesn't cross the railing wall, it displays OK.

How do I fix this problem?
