X1 Where Do New Materials Go?

I tried creating a new material to the book and expected to find it in My Materials, but it's not there. Of course I repeated the experiment several times and still no material, is there a trick to this or is it an X1 issue?

They will be in the plan you created them in.
Go to 3D...Materials...Plan Materials.
Click the Add to Library button down the bottom.
