    Foundation under a desk?

There is a standard footing and sten wall perimeter foundation under the house and garage. When I create a deck on the first floor plan; a perimeter foundation is created under the deck. However, I want pads under the posts for footings. How do I keep the perimeter foundation from being created? Do I place the pads before create the deck?

I am going crazy, jumping from page to page in the reference manual, searching for all the clues as to how to do all these things.

Thanks again for your help, Bob

    desk?

    I'm really confused. Deck?

If you mean deck, select the room dbx for it and make sure it has a room type "deck" or "porch". If you have a railing but it's neither of those, it will assume it's part of the house and create a foundation under it.

I wrote code in 1984 to make my Sinclair 100 - so I used to be a programmer! So I can say with authority how easy it is to program Chief features! ;-)

Wendy thanks for the spell check.

I checked the room dbx and the room type is "deck". It is also labeled on the plan as deck. The correct deck is shown, including the deck framing, but the post do not extend below the deck framing.

The terrain has already been built, there is a foundation under the house and garage. Bob

Is this what your looking for?
    Build advanced deck framing..
If the foundation is building under it,the room name is wrong like Wendy said.

You can tell it is Friday..
I did steal the joke from Neal...
Think cinder blocks are a better way to build up a desk..

Glad you guys are enjoying the title for my post. It should have been deck, but if it adds joy to your Friday afternoon, so be it. If I need ideas for foundations under a desk, at least I know where to find them.

    Have a good weekend, Bob
