Imported .dwg text problems
I've searched threads on text problems in dwg imports, but nothing really addresses my question. I'm trying to import a dwg that is mainly text- a D size sheet of structural notes. It imports, but EVERY LINE of text is a SEPARATE Text block. Needless to say, it makes editing rather time consuming.
Is this normal? Is this the way text is produced in ACAD (I don't know, I've never used ACAD)? Is there an easy way to fix it so an entire paragraph (or group of paragraphs) is all in one CA text block?
Any advice, or am I SOL?
Thanks,
Dorothy

Can you just copy the text and paste it in Chief?

Allen-
I don't have any software that will open the dwg directly. I tried importing it into Skup, but the text didn't show up at all. Is there a free dwg opener?

Don't know if this would make a difference, but there is an option to Import All CAD Blocks in the import wizard, did you try that?
There is a free DWG Viewer here. But I kind of doubt you can cut and paste text. One option might be to print to PDF and then use a character recognition program (came with my Officejet all-in-one). I have had some success with this trying to copy large amounts of notes, but you still have to go through and proofread and format it all.
There is also a Paste Special function designed to help with using text documents in notes.
I know this question has come up a lot. At least if they are notes you will use repeatedly, you only have to bear through it once.

Bryce-
I tried the dwg viewer from Autodesk- it is definetely 'look, but don't touch''. I didn't think of the pdf to text via OCR. I'll give that a try.
If I was a better typist, I could have the whole thing transcribed into CA by now...
Thx, D

You could post it here and someone would convert it..
If you don't want to post it,you can email it to me.
I'll be glad to try it...........
