Layer Set control.
Just sharing my thoughts....Another thing that I don't like with X1 is the layer controls.
I do not like the way that it changes layer sets depending on the view you are using.
Previously in V10 if I was working on the plan using my electrical set and would go to a 3D view, it would stay in the electrical set and I could control what items displayed in 3D in the electrical set. Now - if I go to a render camera view, Chief goes to the camera view set which is consistent no matter what plan layer set I am working from.
I do not like that. Sometimes, depending on what I am working on I do n't want the same things showing in 3D - now I have to go back all the time and turn on/off 3D items.
I preferred having plan layer sets that I can control what shows in 3D....I liked the 3D column in the layer display control.

That's kind of a helps...but not entirely.
Am I able to lock that somwhere so that it stays the active layer set when I go from plan view to different camera views? Or do I have to keep changing it every time I go to a camera view?

Chris,
I may not be following what you're trying to do. Attached is a jpg, showing when you make the Views as the "Active Layer Set", your camera views will be the same as your Plan set. Once you get into the Camera Views, you can switch Layer Sets there, if you want, and upon returning to Plan View, it will be the same as you started with. The Plan view will always return to the same Layer Set, after exiting the Camera views. I'm not making any sense, am I? V10 is different, in that you could adjust the same Layer Set for 2D and 3D, separately. I'm used to it now, but it did take a while. I have some Layer Sets strictly for viewing only.

Thanks Cliff. The image showed what I think I was looking for...
I will know once I open X1 again. I'm working in 10 now.
Thanks!

Chrs,
Set it in the Defaults - Layersets dbx. It will stay as you set it, no need to change with each view generation.Wendy Lee Welton

I wrote code in 1984 to make my Sinclair 100 - so I used to be a programmer! So I can say with authority how easy it is to program Chief features! ;-)

Hi
Can someone tell me if the "use active Layer set" option was available when X1 was first released.
Curious, still in 10.o, Ray
