Back Up X1 Files to External Hard Drive
I am having trouble opening my X1 folders after they have been backed up.
I am backing up to a USB memory stick & a Maxor External Backup Drive.
When I try to open my plans from either one of them I get the message Chief 10.08a -11613 THis plan written by a later version of the system Can not open it.
Can some one please tell me what I am doing wrong.
It is 10:30pm here & I need to leave here at 7:30 in the morning to take some examples of X1 plans to a user group meeting. We will have 23 attendees.
I am trying not to get excited!Russell Delaney

Allan,
A great big thankyou to you.
I can now open the plans.
I had no idea to follow that path & I don't think I would ever have known unless told by someone.
One thing about Chief, my mind will never grow dull - always something to learn. I love it!
And thankyou for the prompt reply in about 2 minutes of posting.
Thanks again - I will sleep well tonight.Russell Delaney

Your welcome
Louis
If you use the choose program option, there is a check box to always use that program..
Just selecting X1 you don't get that box...........

On the external hardrive topic -I just ordered a 500GB Maxtor One Touch III external hardrive and was wondering what auto-backup software people are using?
I know Maxtor comes w/ software but it didn't work well on my last one.

Last year I purchased my second 500gig Maxtor Incremental external backup drive. They are set to backup automatically every day & work fine. They give me great peace of mind not having to worry about theft or corruption.
I swap them over weekly or more often if I have completed a larger project.
