This is not plan related. I tried it in different plans as well as a new plan. Still happens with roof tool.

Are you clicking on the roof tool like you're going to place a roof. Then move your mouse over a wall and scroll in using the mouse wheel AND move your mouse in any direction? You have to move your mouse imediately after scrolling in or during scrolling in. It sounds like your not doing all the steps.

Tommy and Louis earlier I thought you were talking about working with a roof in 3d, but you are right, when I tried scrolling into the plan (while in manual roof mode), the roof tool and snaps just go dead until I left click or go back and select the roof tool again. So, I am having the same experience as you are.

    Louis;

I'm using the Microsoft wireless laser 6000, and no problem here. I've tried two plans of different complexities, zoomed [with wheel] in and out while moving etc., and no problem loosing handles. One thing I did notice though, is my processor jumps to about 68%-71% while I'm moving the mouse, but only about 35% max while zooming (combination does not change max of moving mouse, ie. not a combined effect). Hope this helps. By the way, processor is DuoCore X6800 overclocked to 3.47GHz, if that makes a difference.

    [EDIT]
By the way Tommy, I'm doing it exactly like you are saying in post #17. I'll try it on my laptop, it's a little slower processor, I'll get back to you in a few.

Thank You Kevin. What mouse do you use?

I really don't think this is a mouse problem.

George, the problem is not losing the handles on the roof planes, it is getting disconnected with the roof tool and losing the "on object" snap.

On my Sager Laptop, I'm using the Logitech Laser wireless mouse, and it still works fine.

I'm sorry Tommy, I'm going to look stupid here, but what is the "on object snap", and I'll check it out.

    Hi,

I should start by mentioning that I am running under Vista.

I have tried zooming before placing a roof plane, while placing a roof plane, after placing a roof plane, moving the mouse before zooming, while zooming, after zooming.

Creating and processing mouse messages can be problematic. Not all drivers produce the same messages in the same order. So it might be a driver problem even though it doesn't seem likely.

For the folks having problems are they PS2 port mice or USB?
Regards, Frederick C. Wilt (Began with v9, now using X6 aka v16)

So George you can turn on on object object snaps get in roof mode draw a manual roof plane zoom in with the wheel and then draw another roof plane using your object snaps without left clicking first? Wow.

The on object snap is the one that allows you to sanp to the main layer. This allows you to place a roof plane exacly where you want it and where it needs to be!

Sorry Louis, I think I'm missing something, I took your Layers class but missed the roof one. Don't do much manual roof stuff, at least by the book, I'm sure. Walk me through what you mean, and I will get something out of this as well, I'm sure.

This not one of those "Big Deals" but it's one of those things that make you take an extra step.
