Automatic Foundations

Before I design a room addition, I create an as-is drawing of the house including its foundation. When I create the addition, is there a way to have its foundation automatically generated without going to Explorer and deleting the foundation layer?

Probably not. You should, however draw your existing and then do a save as of the plan for the new version. You could then delete your foundation as you have been doing and build a whole new foundation. There is a way to do it, I think. Build a new model of only the room addition, build the foundation, do an edit area and copy it, paste it to the foundation plan - probably easier to do it manually. That technique is great for complex roofs that can be auto built and pasted on the model.
