I don't have any idea how you do it. I've always just added another plane but, I'm interested in your answer.

Ha! LOL if that's what's being touted as an array tool.

A real array tool could make a thousand copies spaced in 3 dimensions in a few seconds. I know, because I programmed one 20 years ago. Select an object, enter the x,y,z quantities and spacing, then click done.

You know of couse, that such a function should be really fast. Ka-chunk, Ka-chunk, Ka-chunk shouldn't be necessary.

Maybe you should also include the hint about the right mouse drag as well to get the array to work correctly.

Ooops, I read it wrong. I use the Trim Object(s) tool all the time to trim framing items. You were refering to roof planes...

I do know the answer though. Louis, can I spill the beans or do you want to keep it going? I do use this "skill saw" when working with dormers, shed and gable.

I know, but it's very limited. You have to reset the copy increment unless you want the same increment in the next direction.

I haven't tried using it in a 3d view, but I suppose itwould work there as well.

Hi Allen,

I'm not really grumpy.

It's just that what we pay for CA, we should expect the most competent and usable functionality. In fact, it's in ART's best interest as well. If the product performs better than any other then it will gain market share. All of us benefit from that which is the reason I push for the best functionality with the fastest production and the most accuracy possible.

We all know that from a framing standpoint CA X1 is much better than v10. That doesn't mean it's where we want it to be. If I were a framing contractor, I'd spend 50% more than I did for CA and get "Solid Builder" which generates extremely accurate material takeoffs, cut lists and cutting diagrams fully dimensioned. OTOH, I bought CA because it is IMO a better design and presentation tool.

However, it can be improved in even that area (X1 is a big step).
