Interesting, very clever variation. That is if louis confirms, it is what he's meaning in this game of cat and mouse.

Its fun though, keeps us thinking and that hurts at my age!

I would have:
Dragged one edge back past centre
Copy and paste
Point to point position
Join roofs

Same amount of clicks I think?? Less clicks if you have to add parallel edges to the other method.

But much less MYSTERY!!

I started out using Super Sawcats. They were great saws. Since my last Sawcat died, I've been trying to make due with Dewalt saws. The Dewalts look almost identical to the last Sawcat model but lack the same quality. I use the one that pivots from the front.

I have a Porter-Cable that cuts left bevels. It's a nice tool but, it doesn't have a break.

They were great saws.You can still get used ones on Ebay..I wouldn't buy one though..I still have a few that still work..
I have had bad luck with DeWalt tools..

wasn't dewalt bought by black & decker? (they also own Porter-Cable, Delta, & Oldham Saw)

i have no dewalt. i've also had bad luck with them. my last dewalt was a hammer-drill that just ended up in the dumpster. i do like their 7¼" sawblades though - i think the yellow paint makes them cut better...

I don't know what Louis was talking about but this is my version:

Create a polyline and subtract it from the roof.

In the attached image I am cutting a curve on the edge of a roof by using a spline to get the right shape then converting that spline to a polyline.

Subtracting the edge you will see that I now have a curved edge on my roof plane.

Dan, does that work in v10?

Chris, Dewalt was bought by Black & Decker. That's why, aside from the color, my Dewalt saw looks exactly like my old Sawcat. But, the quality definitely dropped off.

Allen, I have two Sawcats in various states of disrepair. My last one had some serious miles on it. I wore about a 3/32 groove in the armature where the brushes make contact. I had to bevel the corners of the brushes the last couple of times that I changed them. You don't have one of the really old Sawcats do you? The ones with the lightning fast break. Those were very nice saws.

I bought mine in 1988,is that old?Around $80.00(flashbacks)
The box they came in showed a guy cutting metal,sparks every where..
All so a really old one that I got from an old carpenter,still cuts nice and smooth.
There is a SawCat on Ebay now,$50 with the shipping..Very used..

Allen, I got my first one around 1990. I did some searching on the google and the old one I was speaking of looks like this:

They had a break that would completely stop the blade in about two seconds.

Both models are Super Sawcats and both pivot from the front from a fixed point behind the blade.
