    Question Arranging Auditorium Seating

Hi Guys, please can you help. I am trying to find a "quick" solution in arranging chairs in a church plan in a "Semi Circle" around a podium.

I've tried using "transform/Replicate Object" but this has got me pulling out hairs...

    any ideas...

    thankyou

    Are you using X1?
The new multi copy tool function would be great for this..

    I am using v10.04.
What I did was replicate a single chair 10x in YAxis so
I had 1 column of chairs, I then grouped them and replicated them and rotated each column by 5 or so degrees to the first row of chairs were sitting armrest to armrest. but as you move further from the first chair to the last chair in the column the spaces between the columns increase. for example the first row contained 10 chairs the last row I can fit in 33 chairs. but it is quite time consuming to rotate each chair by 1 degree and then line them up armrest to armrest.

You need and array command about a central intersecting point.. to create a "fan" of chairs.. go suggest it... maybe in X2

I had done this years ago in autocad, using a polar array - perhaps that may be the way to go if you have acad, then import all the chairs?

    Good luck...

I tried to raise my hands to prevent all this stuff going over my head but it is now embedded in the wall behind me...

I have never used ACAD before, but can the file be imported into CA..?

I thought this was going to be tricky. thanks for the replies...

v10.04? There is a free update on to v10.08

However, I don't think this is going to be all that easy. What you will need to do is place 1 chair in each row and then replicate a number of copies at a given angle relative to a central point. Each row will require a slightly differnet angle.

If I understand you right that is what I did.

you can see the seats on the left are replicated columns.

on the right the first row and last row I slipped in some extra seats using arcs as references...
