Porches, Decks and Framing

I have been trying to build framing to show detail in cross sections at deck platform / foundation top and it is driving me crazy! See pics below.

How do you keep the deck framing on the exterior of the foundation and not depressing the top the foundation? I have tried with invisible walls next to house wall but does not always work and seems like too much work. I do not actually show framing and may just go back doing a few cad boxes in the cross sections.

All suggestions and comments appreciated.

ps The 1st section was taken through the plan shown and has got me confused. The 2nd section is taken at a simple deck with railings and is correct,

In the case of a wood frame porch or deck how do you keep the platform from depressing the top of the foundation wall? Maybe this is too a simple a question?

I don't seem to be having that problem..
Maybe it is a wall layer thing..
Do you want your deck that far down?Most of the time it is 1 step and gets attached to the box..
You could post your plan..

In this case we are going down 2 steps (ie one platform at door).

I have attached a simple section / example from my 'junkyard test plan', I don't think this is a file problem.

OK Chiefers, tell me if this is normal and if so what is the logic of the foundation wall being cut down sometimes but not always where a deck or porch attaches.

This only seems to happen with main floor walls that have a significant (4" +)amount of non 'main layer' on the exterior side such as a brick veener type.

This is why I don't like brick walls that much.
Pull the rail walls away from the house,then use an invisible wall to close it up on the house side,drag back to the house.
The walls are snapping to the main layer..If you change it to the brick,it screws up the rest of the plan..
You might get better ideas from some one who uses brick more..

Allen, Thanks for the follow up.

That is sort of what I thought, I spoke with tech support and they were sceptical and then surprised. My initial post shows the use of invisible walls as you suggest.

I can only guess that people using brick veneer walls are not doing decks or at least don't build framing.

Bruce, - See the image attached. I pulled back your two railing walls and made sure that the foundation and upper walls were aligned and built the floor framing. Then I brought the deck railings back to the wall.

Did you reset the deck height to -12 ?

Just used the aligned with below and get the bricks stepped out..
Also with the brick ledge foundation=worst

Bruce & Allen, - The best way to deal with this deck situation with a -12" floor platform and to be able to align the walls properly is to break down your concrete foundation wall definition as shown in the second attachment. This will allow the foundation and main floor walls to align properly and eliminate the interference with a single layer stem wall. Use the align with above and below boxes to align them. Sometimes you have to move the walls closer to where they should be in order for the 'align with' feature to work properly.

I get the framing building into the foundation..
