Window Obscured By Exterior Wall Surface

I am having trouble adding an octagonal window to a 2nd-story gable end. The gable is part of a roof that is perpendicular to the main roof and the wall is "cut below" by the main roof. The window appears in 2D plan, but only shows the frame in 3D. I can "Delete View Surface" in 3D, and the window panes appear, but the wall below the gable on the second story are also deleted. Any thoughts?

Did you drag a wall up in elevation?

    Your welcome

Louis is doing the guessing game...
Think he is right on the elevation as my guess..
Click on the wall and check default heights and see what that does..

I was just joking because of Allen Browns post, you didn't want to guess any more..
I think you are right though...Unless he used a polysolid to cover the wall.

No, there is not a second wall there. I checked this by deleting the walls that do show in plan view and there was nothing else underneath. And I did not drag any walls up in elevation. Attached is a jpeg of what the elevation looks like when I "Delete View Surface" in 3D view. The area I click on when deleting the surface is the octagonal window, not the wall below that is creating the problem.

ID:	11439and see if Chief has created an attic wall? I suspect you edited the 2nd floor wall to fill the gable, and Chief has likely also created an attic wall there as well.

I usually leave the auto-rebuild (3D --> 3D Settings --> Auto Rebuild Walls/Floors/Ceilings) off, or Chief has a nasty habit of installing attic walls where they just don't belong.

    Hope this helps,

    John S.

P.S. Feel free to zip up and post the plan file if you want one of us to take a look!

Got it! You guys gave me the necessary clues. In 3D elevation I was able to see that the second floor wall had a gable extending up thru the roof. This was in addition to the wall I had put on the third floor to fill in that gable. THANKS!!!
