How do change the rafter thickness?
The roof plane on the left was from an auto dormer exploded. The roof plane on the right was manual. I opened the DBX and changer the Rafter Depth, but it did not change the look.

You might have to build the framing for it to change..At least rebuild trim...

You can post the plan and explain what you want it to do...
That will be easier and faster than guessing..........

Ahhh Grasshopper,,,,,,,,,
You must instead change the fascia in the roof dbx for that particular roof plane.
I don't believe the rafter depth affects the appearance unless you have it included in your 3-D preferences.

Changing the rafter size won't move the roof plane, I think you have to either rebuild the roof after you have changed the rafter size, or something like that.
I'm sure there is a previous post here about that, maybe a search will find it....Jim Rogers

Sorry Allen,
I told you the wrong place to change the Fascia width.
It's actually changed in the "Build Framing" dbx under "roof", look for "Fascia" (what we call "Rake").
You don't even need to check "build roof framing" for the changes to be made.Last edited by Coffcons; 12-14-2006 at 03:47 PM.

Actually, it doesn't. When I change that item, it changes all of the roof sections that were built by the auto roof tool, but not the problem child that is left over from an exploded dormer.
Each time I try to manualy build this roof section, I get this:

You can change the look in the Roof DBX, Options Tab, Fascia. However, this will change it for all of the roofs at once. You may be best off changing it to the most common size, and then creating the rake fascia manually for anything that's different.Richard

I actualy want it to change all the roof planes at once. I just can't change the one I want to match the rest.

You can change the rafter depth for one plane by selecting on the roof plane and changing the rafter depth in that roof planes dialog box. This will make that roof platform thicker then rebuild roof framing.

Allen Brown,
Did that last post happen after you manually built your roof from the (already made) auto dormer tool? Or, did you rebuild the whole dormer manually?
