    Layout printing in colour

    Hi,

Does anyone know to print my layout sheets in colour? When I send a plan to the layout it automatically goes in black and white, then prints like this.

Sorry, it's only B/W unless you make .JPG's (or other pic formats) and then import them into the layout, but then they are not to scale.

the permit office doesn't care about color and I would make a separate layout for the client presentation and do that in color as they don't care about scale.

I print in color often for clients to better tell the difference in what they are seeing for prelims.

In the toolbar click the button that looks like a house with a line cutting it in half. This will toggle the color on/off. After clicking PRINT, make sure the COLOR box in checked in the print dialgbx. I use an HP 110+, and it always asks if I want color or not.

Lew, I too have printed in color(to scale).....not on purpose, but I have done it. It's as Joey3032 says. I use the HP 450C. But like you say the town gets black on white print.

Ok, I'll have to go back to the prior threads on this as I was sure they said that scaled views couldn't be sent to layout in color

I only print prelims in color....I find it easier for clients to differentiate the lines when they are different colors - dims from walls etc...- If I send a color layout to PDF995 for printing in color, it will come out B/W.

    Final plans are always B/W.

Ok, here are some of the threads that I remember about this topic, I guess it's a a matter of clarification, some things can be sent in color and some can't. I was referring to those that can't be sent in color like elevations:

    http://www.chieftalk.com/showthread....t=layout+color

    http://www.chieftalk.com/showthread....t=layout+color

    http://www.chieftalk.com/showthread....t=layout+color

    http://www.chieftalk.com/showthread....t=layout+color

The reason I do two layouts is that there are items that the client doesn't need to see or want to see and the same goes for the permit dept.
The permit office really doesn't need to see the bathroom from every different angle and close-ups of that special marble tile, etc.

I always save as a PDF in color. Then tell the printer HP110+ to print gray scale. With all the wall colors set to the color used by the default 6" wall (bright green), I get a very nice gray wall color on the prints. Also if you want something to be printed light set it to red. Experiment with different colors for different levels from gray to black.
