    Pony Wall Issue

I have tried to make existing walls in a building into Pony Walls so that we can add a stone finish to the bottom 36" of the wall.

I can get a line to show up in vector elevation to simulate the different wall sections, but the materials do not show.

    Any ideas?

I tested what I think you've done, but I got the correct results. You didn't mention spray painting the walls, or adding an exterior wallpaper, so I'm not for sure what's happening. You might try an F12, or pulling one of the walls back, then reconnecting. If that doesn't work, you may want to post the plan for someone to look over.

Check the exterior room definition to see if the exterior wall is set to use default material.

I just did pony walls with a base stone like you want, and I get a line like that on the inside of my walls in vector view... Any chance your walls are reversed?

I had a similar issue recently and Dan's recommendation solved it.

None of those suggestions have helped. Perhaps I've done something to the plans :/

Anyone willing to take a look at them if I email them?

    Hello Matt,
Here are a couple of recent threads that deal with Pony wall color and texture displays.

    pony walls? vector/render?

    Pony Wall Color/Texture Problems

Pony Walls give Chief a tremendous amount of ability to do things that would be impossible without them, but they are not as easy to work with as Chief's normal walls, and they absolutely don't work well if the Spray Can has been used to apply a color or texture when they are part of a surface that can be affected by the Spray Can color change. Since I discovered this limitation, I only change colors using the Material's Tab in the Wall's Specification Dialog. Some times if the Spray Can has been used, even that approach won't work unless the wall is broken or the Tricks listed in the first link above are used.

In addition, I've found the inside surface will show the wall line split and it will need to be covered with a thin slab and then colored or textured as needed. In some cases, the room's dialog specification moldings won't work on a Pony Wall, but manually applied modlings work fine and show perfectly.

    Cliff,
How did you fix his plan.. I am working on one where yes, some walls have been spray painted and it is now a nightmare to get the lowr wall to show stone as they should... The walls are not reversed.. I have tried pulling back.. etc..

Also the carpet in the room shows through the top of the stone?? 2 Hour fixing walls..

    Thanks

Instead of doing pony walls you might want to try using the "wall coverings" tab in the wall dbx to define a region that can have a different wall covering ?

    Rashid,

I had asked Matt to post the fix, if it did fix his plan. He did thank me for helping, but never said one way or the other. This is what I did......Selected one of his pony walls, shift selected the other pony walls, opened their wall spec. dbx, selected the Materials tab, selected Exterior Wall Surface, clicked on the material image (not Library or Plan), selected "Use Default" and OK.

Sorry for the delay, Cliffs fix worked great. For some reason, some of the pony's were at 48" high, and others were at 36" high. Pulled them in elevation view and all was correct in the world.

Thanks again for the help Cliff!

When I encountered this Pony Wall problem on exterior views, I found the only solution that kept the problem away when viewing from different angles was to use a thin slab everywhere the wrong surface would show through. On some of the interior walls I found I needed to add plywood sheeting under the sheetrock or a painted slab over the wall to stop the floor section from showing through in some camera angles.

Some camera angle don't show the bleed through, but when it shows it needs to be addressed.

    Lew,

The stone veneer has a thickness the Wallcovering doesn't have...

Cliff.. As soon as I change the defaults all the Pony walls change and I am using 3 different Pony wall combinations.. I am going to redraw all the ponywalls.. lesson learned..

Roger.. Thanks.. I will be adding a stone drip anyway..
