    Fencing

    Hi all,
Im still learning this whole C.A thingy and I cant make my fences work properly. Whenever I insert a gate into the fence it always comes out about 250 above the ground level. Is there a simple solution to this?

    Thanks in advance

Gates don't follow terrain. The only solution I know of is to open a 3D or Cross section view and ctrl drag them down to the correct height.

This issue is filed in our database as a problem.

I find that fences can be a real PITA at times because sometimes they don't connect right in a camera view. I mean they're not meeting in the corners by around 2 feet. It looks correct in plan view though and are joined. This is using the fence tool. I've not had the gates jump up like that but sometimes they're not positioned right in camera view either. Sometimes it works okay though. I've found fencing, at least iron fencing, can be hard to work with sometimes. I did a test tonight an it worked okay, but I can tell you that there have been many times it took forever to make it look right in a camera view. Most of the time when I have this problem, it's because I'm using elevation data (lines). I'm not sure that has anything to do with it though.

What type of fence are you using? Are you using a symbol for a gate, or inserting a door? In this picture I inserted a gate from the door library and seems to work okay. I thought it was the gate that you needed to drag down. If so, try Control drag. You can't drag the fence down in Elevation, until you change it to a regular wall, edit in Elevation, then change back to a fence.
