    Base Molding

While zooming in I noticed the base molding not sitting on the durface of wall correctly. See attached. This is a custom col base with a shoe molding. It is my default room molding. Is there a way to adjust it to sit on surface correctly?

    Doug:

Noticed this before for custom moldings I created. It looks like Chief takes the longest line on the left and not always the one that is furthest left when you draw the molding. In my case I was able to either adjust the location of the molding line it was applied to or revise the left side of the molding but, looking at your detail, it should probably be reported as a bug.

For now you could replace the molding with one that has a flat back. I think that will correct it.

Thanks Larry, yes your right and I figured that flatening or extending one of the short lines will take care of it. And its not a big deal. I can't imagine anything it would, down the road screw up. But if it is a bug, I guess it should be remmenied. All the moldings (casing, base, chair rail ) I use has this step. A wait and see, maybe there is a way to correct this before I start changing my profiles.

Chief I believe actually puts some moldings to the framing layer at least it did a while back for the crown mold. It's been a while since I checked again. I'll check it later...just got home.

It should not do that for Room Moldings. It would do that if you use a Molding line or Polyline and that line is located on one edge of the framing.

What you saw could also be related to what Doug and I are talking about.

When someone at Chief reads this the bug is that:

Chief does not always set the edge of a custom molding that is furthest to the left as the left edge of the molding. It appears to take a line on the left that is longer (or longest).

    Base Molding

This one worked fine, I checked others also. it appears that in fact it does look at the longest of the flats and moves the molding based on that surface.

I always intended to go back and take a closer look before reporting it but...

    Good to get confirmation!

For whatever it's worth. To remedy: Just drop a line connecting the 2 offsets
prior to blocking so the molding has a flat back.
