    Fireplace moving

Hey, has anyone experienced this with your fireplaces? This is happening with the two fireplaces on first floor, but isn't affecting the fireplace on second floor. Go figure!

    Tim,
This looks like the fireplace symbol that Chief inserts from the Fireplace Icon in the toolbar. I expect you had to Control-Drag it to push it through the wall.

When I have used the Fireplace symbol from the Fireplace Icon, I have also seen it jumping around when it was Control-Dragged through the wall.

Since most of the fireplaces I use are custom, I end up making my fireplaces via slabs, and the slab fireplace is stable.

My suggestion is to avoid the Chief Fireplace Icon method.

If you use the fireplace icon and click directly on a wall, it should be stable.

Chief's fireplace tool provides insufficient 3D detail for me, though, so I use walls or slabs with moldings.

    Don,
I used the method Jason mentioned. If you click the fireplace tool directly on the wall, you can move it in the wall, as well as forward or flush with the wall. However, until recently, I've not had the problem of the lines lining up with each other. Notice how the hearth isn't aligning in plan view with the actual fireplace. Now, in 3D it does align, and on the 2nd floor it aligns, but not here. I've deleted, re-built, started over, etc., and nothing works. I'm kinda' out of ideas.

I'd send the anomaly to tech support. In the meantime, if it's right in 3D, CAD over it in 2D and hope you never have to do that again.

    Tim,

I've had that happen and I did not control drag it. I don't remember what my solution was.
