    Stainless Steel Look

Work'n late again. Anyone want to share their best material and settings to achieve a good stainless steel look (appliance) in a raytrace render view. I'll try to attatch a pic of my latest kitchen...says it's too big:mad: again! Help with resizing images? Thanks............Chris

I use "SNAGIT"to quickly resize an image for uploading. It's costs but you can download a demo for 30 days.

    hi chris,

a good one is in angelas texture files which are on chief portal.
    my suggestion is metals-silver tones-metal 01jpg
for most renders/ vrmls the simple setting of bright/shiny works well as long as you don't use too many lights then you will have to play with the advanced settings to suit.
for raytrace a bit of reflectivity helps, again depends on no of lights and orientation
oh yeh, size jpg as stretch to fit.
look forward to seeing the finished product.

for SS you don't really need a texture, just use a gray color and set the shininess, diffuse, etc to yield the results you want

Here is a hood with the following attributes:

gray color, medium brightness, shiny, about 80% reflectivity on RT tab.

I use different settings if I want it for rendering.
