    Two wall types

I am working on a house that is a vinyl siding house with a brick front that has 4' brick wrap arounds on the side elevations. Here is the question, I need to put an interior wall at one of the wrap arounds, but it needs to be 4'6" from the front corner of the house. Where the two wall types meet, it keeps snapping to the 4'6" interior wall. Is there a way to lock the two exterior walls only so I can put the interior wall in?

    Thank you for your help!

    Angela:

You could try using a narrow invisible wall where the two wall types split: Pull it back first, connect the interior partition and then move the invisible wall back where it needs to be. If that doesn't work, or if you want an alternative that would be more stable, use a polyline solid or slab for the brick turning the corner. That way you also avoid any alignment issues.

    Angela,

Move the interior wall by dimension and the exterior wall will not move.

Place the interior first into one of the wall sections and then move it into place by dimension.

Except that the image you posted shows the exterior wall splice centered on the perpendicular partition which, as I understand it, is not what Angela wants.

If you want the joint slightly off the center of the joint use the micro move handle to get the placement you want.

I don't trust the stability of any wall break (in plan) that does not have a perpendicular wall at the intersection.

This is one option I could live with:

Larry- that is the way I handle it also...then we just have to deal with that line it creates ...I typically use cad to clean up....
