Wall snap distance
If I change the wall snap distance to 25mm in defaults and the snap distance is still snapping at 125mm what else do I need to change so that the distance will snap to 25mm

It seems that an existing snaped wall will continue to snap, deleting this wall and drawing a new wall enables the wall to stop 25mm from the other.. I guess you learn these as you go..
