    Scott,

The first thing I would suspect is the condition of your PC:
1.When was the last time you de-fragmented your hard drives?
    2. Are your hard drives so full that they cannot be de-fragmented? (you must have at least 15 - 20% free space to de-fragment a hard drive)
    3. Might you have picked up a virus or spy-ware? (check and see)
    4. Are you video card drivers up to date (do you have the latest update for it installed?) This alone causes more crashes with Chief Architect than any other cause - any version
    5. Is your copy of Chief Architect updated to the last patch that was available before it was no longer supported by Chief Architect Inc.? (December 1, 2000 I think)
    6. Do you have enough system RAM installed into your mother board to support all the hardware and software you currently have on your PC.
    7. When was the last time you cleaned the inside of your PC's case and components? a build up of dirt can make all components run hotter especially the CPU which will cause operating system instability (crashes).

That is the major and usual list of things that will contribute to crashes.

One last general category is the end user who never completely learned how to properly use Chief Architect's tools and so creates their plans and layouts in such a way as to make them productive of code paradoxes or just poor user habits based on ignorance that can add up to corrupted or near corrupted plan and layout files; this is often a cause of plan and layout instability (crashes).

    David,

Thanks for the info, I checked all the areas of my PC & all is well. I also hve the last patch for Chief. So I guess the answer to my problem would be to purchase Cheif 10.0. I use the system daily & have been thinking of upgrading anyway. I really appreciate the help.
