Door Rough opening.

I know in the framing DBX, there is an option to set rough opening dimensions. However - when framing - a RO size is different depending on the door type.

for example: A hinged 6068 patio door has a RO of 72"x80" while an interior cased 2868 door is 34"x81½"

AaaaND a pocket door - 2668 pocket door....RO = 61"x84½"
A By-Pass (or slider)...2-2068 RO = 49"x81½"

CA's Framing tools make all the RO's the same....as far as I can tell...

Any thoughts?

Dose it really matter?I've never seen wall framing on a plan.
Might make a difference on material list..

Materials list is one thing...I didnt even consider that....

But my thing is - becuase of the door schedule tool. You have the option to include the RO size on the schedule. Why bother using the automatic schedule function if it doesn't even calculate that correctly....

It would be nice if I could set all of my RO dimensions at the biginning for each kind of door - or even as I place the doors, so that when I generate the schedule, the RO's are accurate.

Create a door and define it precisely like you want it. Then add it to your custom doorway library. Next use the custom library item toolbar button and add a new button that uses that doorway from the library. Now you have a toolbar button that uses your predefined rough opening.

Make one for each door type and you have what you requested.

That's OK if they/you use the doors/windows on the plan.
Most times they get ordered from a lumberyard,and I feel better framing them from the updated ROs given by the window suppliers..
But I understand what you want..

It would be nice if manufacturers had a way to add ROs to the schedule from there sites.
Have the model #,link to their site and they update/check ROs..
Just a thought...

Yeah - I tell the manufacturers, lumber yards, Truss designers - all those people, what I want. I give them the plan and tell them what they should be ordering. I don't let them determine what is needed, even with windows....

In CA, I am able to get the window schedule to show the correct RO becuase with each indivudual window DBX I am able to add to the width & height for RO. BUt not with the door DBX. My suppliers/manufactures & design team use my plans exclusively for ordering. The use the schedules I produce to make the orders...

At least allen, I am glad you understand what I am after.
