Question rendering / visualizing .DWG plans in CA

I am new to CA, I am trying out X2. I received a .DWG file from Autocad architectural 2003 for a home plan (only 1st floor so far) and I am interested in importing it into CA and hopefully render it.

I was able to import it in X2 but eveything was just a lines, nothing appeared to CA objects. I'd appreciate if someone can guide me in the right direction.

    Thanks

They gave you a 2d dwg most likely. You need a 3d dwg or 3ds file to see 3d objects.

You need to import the 2D autocad file and then trace over that image with chief walls and then place doors and windows

or try to use the "Cad to Walls" tool

most chiefers find it easier to do the tracing method

it is not possible to import a 2D floorplan and then instantly see it in 3D

if you import a .3DS file then it will only be a symbol of the house and won't be editable in Chief.

Thanks for the info. I will give tracing a shot and see what happens. How much would someone charge if I were to email them my floor plan yo have them generate 3d model snapshots and walkthrough for me?
