...while others are happy about the rope and won't complain at all. all the while missing the point and forgetting to complain about being hung.

I have gotten in the habit of copy/paste anything/ everything (if possible) from the drawing layer set I'm working in - including text. If I want to add a text arrow, I add it from the text dbx. That puts the text arrow on the same layer as the text automatically.
I don't have to worry about what layer the text is on, what layer is currently active, general text layer getting turned on just because I enter a piece of text, etc................
Too bad that doesn't work for framing. It is really irritating to have all the framing turn on simply by clicking on the framing defaults icon.

The frustrating part about copying text is making sure you get the arrow with it...I use copy a lot also.

Text W/ Arrows
Please don't mess with this feature too much. Your discussion has improved my knowledge of the subject greatly. I have now mastered the ability to place text and arrows on the same layer and change default layers for placing text and arrows at will. I can even move the text and keep the leaders level. If the leaders do get out of whack I can use the parallel tool to bring them back. All the features are great and versatile. The only problem that I can see is that many of the people commenting have not discovered all the neat things that you can do with text and arrows.
Your discussion was a real eye opener for me and I thank you all.Michael Bailey
