    Back Clipped Cross Section, question?

When I use back clipping to create a cross section, there is always some depth to it. In order to get a zero thickness cross section I edit out lots of lines. Is there an easy way to quickly get a zero thickness section? Maybe I'm missing something very fundamental. I'm embarrassed to be asking.

Don't be embarrassed for asking a question - that's the main point of this forum. And besides, that's a good question - I don't know either!

Try a 2-inch back clip in the camera dialog.

Sam, Would that be set up before or after the camera shot was generated?

you can set the backclip down to 1/16" in the camera's dbx to cut out/reduce extraneous lines

Sorry kind folks, I'm not getting it.

I was hoping to see just the hip rafter sitting on the corner of the wall.

    Hi Jeff,

You wouldn’t want to set that in your defaults. After you draw a cross section camera open the camera dialog and input “back clip after” setting.

    Thanks everyone, I've got it.

Here's the tricky part. The back clip camera help states that no back clipping will occur if "back clip after" is set to zero. Actually no back clipping occurs if "back clip after" <= 1. "Back clip after" must be greater than 1.

This forum is what makes Chief great!

For other beginners like me. Here's what I've learned. Take a back clip section. Go back to plan and select the back clip camera. Grab the handles and move to the precise section line. Open the back clip camera dialog and set "back clip after" to 2. Wish I asked about this last year
