What's the best way to make belly bands?

    Hi,

I have tried using molding polylines and molding lines, but if a door or window is in the way, the moulding goes right through it. Is there a better way? Can the moulding be broken for things like doors and windows or any other objects which might be in the way?

    Thanx.

Room molding polyline. Select the outside "room" and then make room molding polyline. Chief automatically breaks for doors and windows. Then select the belly band profile. I do it all the time. Note, do this after the windows are where you want them.

Hey, the Wall Covering setting works as well. Just choose a plain colour instead of a wall covering, and change the height.

...moldings are usually the best way, but in some situations, polyline solids from floor plan view using the "Polyline Subtrat" tool can also be helpful....

if you use a molding pline as jason indicates...you can set their ht so they intersect windows/doors and automatically place breaks and turn off the molding in those locations...set their ht belkow the windows and it will only brak them for doors...set the ht above the openings and no breaks will be automatically placed
