I'm no Chief guru, but if it's on the "edge of the roof" it's easier in my opinion to just draw the walls and roof manually. You're not really making a hole in the roof when it's on the edge, just join the roof planes of the dormer to the main roof plane.

You have to cut the roof plane like Cliff and pull it up.Click 2xs on the break line tool and you get a 90 degree cut.Do it in 2 places and pull it up to the wall.I think you were trying a hole it the roof, that still leaves the trim..Last edited by Allen42acj; 02-14-2006 at 04:37 AM.

I followed the steps outlined in the previous posts but I can't get the gutter to remove from the unwanted section of my roof. When I open the dbx of the unwanted section of the roof plane and uncheck the gutter box, the gutter for the entire roof plane dissappears. What gives? What i'm I doing wrong? what steps i'm I missing?

Melpert,
Make sure this layer is turned on in 2D, (Roof, Gutters). This is a molding polyline that you need to select and not the Roof Plane dbx. Once you break the mldg line, under the General tab, check "no mldg on selected edge".Cliff

I don't add gutters most of the time so I didn't notice. When I cut the roof and pull it up a gutter appears in the cut section.
Is there a way to get rid of it on just that edge?
Once a wall is placed there it should not matter, but I would like to know...........

Adding to what Cliff said.
You have to unlock the gutters in layers..
Other wise you will be looking every where for the **** box to check="no mldg on selected edge".
LOL... I found it.............

Thanks Guys,
I did it , by breaking the roof and pulling up the broken part
I was confused by a polyline box when I converted it to a hole in the roof
so I didn't knew how to clean the rest .
It is ok now
next time I will not use a hole in the roof for this case.Last edited by shir; 02-15-2006 at 07:44 AM.
