Are you saying to put a transom window above the door so you can set the windows higher to match the height of the top of the transom, or putting transom windows above every window?

My comment about transoms was to keep all the doors and windows @ 6'10" RO height and to add transoms over the windows if a taller window was desired.
I have a couple of builders that I do design work for that use 3050's for 8' wall heights and 3060's for 9' wall heights. The reason for my original question to the group was more or less what is the point of going to a taller window for a 9' wall if the top of the window remained the same.

On a 9' clg. I'll often move the window top to 92". This still gives you adequite room for a fairly good size crown.
The other option is to leave the default at 80" and add a 12" transom.
