    Rotating objects in Chief

    Help please!!!!

We would like to know how to rotate a 3d object such as a column on the X, Y and Z axis so that we can change the angle on the column in elevation or cross section view.
Taking a "slab" that shows up on a floor plan as a simple single line polyline and in 3D having it show as a sloping cap for a retaining wall. Therefore we can see it in elevation and rendered but not in the 2d floor plan (it shows as a single line).

If you can post or email us back that would really help.
    Thank you.

    2 options

    1. rotate in "other" cad program to the desired placement and import into chief
    2. rotate within chief's symbol import wizard...this has limits of 90 degree rotations

This is where Sketchup acts as a nice companion to CA.

At about 10% of the price and 20% of the learning curve too!

    Post Good mousework

Use Accutrans, import the object, adjust the orientation by clicking on the picture and moving it around. Then select tools/adjust object, then on "use displayed rotation" near the bottom right hand corner of the screen. This method works well but, is very hands on, you will see a display of the x,y,z coordinates, but can only influence these by good control of the mouse.

    Wow good brakes

    ARCHIJEF2000:

Thanks, that's good to know cause Accutrans is $20 versus $500 for Sketchup. Obviously SU can do more, lots more. but if all you need is to change the orientation of objects...
