Fun with material on interior generating on exterior.

Has anyone here had trouble with material choices selected for one side of a wall replicating itself on the opposite side of wall, even though the material selection dialog indicates that it shouldn't?

This has been a perplexing issue. Brought it up with tech support, but they don't seem to be interested.

I'm hoping it's something I just don't understand about the software rather than a bug that has to be worked around.

Do you have the wall flipped the wrong way?

Nope. That was the first thing I looked at. The material selection dialog says that the exterior should be siding and the interior sheetrock, but both sides show up in camera views as siding.

You might dble click the wall, go to the Material Tab and check what the material is there.

Sorry I've taken so long to get back to the forum. Client walked in.

Anyway, Cliff, isn't double clicking the wall just another way to bring up the wall material dialog? This dialog indicates that sheetrock is on the interior and siding on the exterior. Camera views however show siding on both sides.

Louis. thank you for your offer to take a look at the file. I'll send it along to you. I'm grateful for the help.

There are different ways for this to happen. You can also open the Room dbx and check what is listed there. Wallcovering Tool. Sometimes you can pull a wall apart, look at it with the camera to see if the wall changed back to it's original material. Sometimes the Wall Specification dbx will show the proper material, but you need to re enter the same material and it comes back. It seems most of the time this is caused when using the spray painter, which I try to avoid in this area. Louis will find your problem. Dble clicking a wall brings up the Wall Specification dbx which does have the Materials Tab. I just use that instead of single click and then open.

Thank you Cliff. I am starting to understand that the spray painter, although a temptingly powerful tool, is not to be trusted. Louis has helped to return my model to default values, which is very much appreciated. I'll start using the wall material dbx from now on as you suggest.
