    Connecting the dots

I know this has been discussed ad-nauseum, but how does one make this series of short lines into a one closed polyline to convert into a slab, or better yet, a hole in a slab? My brain is working very feebly today.

    Adam:

You could place a terrain feature - kidney inside your oval and then try to get the kidney shape to match the oval shape

once you had it shaped make a copy in case you need to try again and convert the kidney to a regular polyline and then convert that polyline to a slab.

The hard part would be in getting the kidney to the oval shape.

This is probably not the best way, but it is a way

    Adam,

you need to make sure that all line ends are snapped together to form the closed polyline.
You will know if it is a closed polyline if you can get an area it it's dbx.

It looks like it could be open at about the 10 o'clock position.
The diamond handles indicate joined corners. The square handles indicate ends of lines.
Zoom in to that location and try to join the line ends together to close the polyline.

Once it is a closed polyline, you can convert it to a slab.

If you need to convert a circle in a polyline, draw a cricle the size you need, then draw a line across the circle's center, draw and arc from end to end in the circle, pull it up until is as close to the circle as possible, delete the circle, copy the arc and paste it just above the arc, reflect top to bottom, then Ctrl drag until the ends of the arcs meet, snap them together, now you have a circle you can convert to anything you'd like!!

Thanks for the suggestions. Actually, none of the lines are connected. I created a Kohler sink symbol from Kohler's site, and wanted to make a hole in counter the same shape as the sink, so I "viewed to Cad" and attempted to connect the lines. As far as I can tell, the only way to mimic the shape is to draw it from scratch and convert it. Given the sophisticated nature of the program, this seems ridiculous.

    Adam,

Try looking at this post. Maybe it will help. I still had problems figuring it out but maybe it will help you.
