if it is just a file causing trouble for the hd to boot the os...you can always pull the hd and install it onto another system as a slave drive, to get your data, and at the same time copy over a good version of the "ntoskrnl.exe" file it is only about 1.9mb and is in the windows/system32 folder...it would take me about 10-15 minutes to do...I would also scan it for viruses and spyware/malware at that time
