You could maybe get a fog effect with a stand alone POV program, but that's getting way over my head.
A trillion trees! Man, it would take a day to raytrace.
Maybe you could do something in a photo editing program to get that effect.

This is just an idea - don't know how good it would work...
In the area where you want the fog, add several objects or polylines or something that you make almost transparent. You might even get some images of fog, bring it into chief and put it as an almost transparent overlay where you want the fog... ???

Cheat it!
Take your rendering into your favorite image editing software, select the whole image and copy it on top of itself then go to brightness/contrast and adjust brightness up and contrast and saturation down, play with these settings until it looks foggy, then erase any parts of the top layer that you want to be in front of the fog (erasing the top layer will expose the unaltered bottom layer).
When you're finished erasing flatten the image and use a blur tool to slightly blur the edges that you erased to make them softer. Do a save as.John O

I gave it a quick try with masking and filling at 90 % transparent in my grafix program. With a little practice i think it would look good.

Yeah, I was thinking an "in chief" solution, but it would definitely be easier and probably look better to do it in a paint program. Your foggy house looks pretty good!

I just posted a Foggy Background file on the Yahoo Board.
On the left side: Files>Images> Cheryl Crane> Fog.jpg
I actually use it alot - esp. when in early stages and I don't want them to focus on something like what color the shingles are.

You can do this in POV-Ray as a stand alone. There are just a few lines of code that need to be added.
I plan to give it a try. I'll let you know how it goes.

Well what do you expect for a free renderer?

POV-Ray in this case has the BEST interface:
Chief Architect
But for you CODE haters:
the insert menu has under 'special effects' several fog and media haze features like:
// set global atmospheric fog effect in the scene.
// at the fog distance, there will be 63% visibility
fog {
fog_type 1 // 1=constant, 2=ground_fog
distance 10
color Gray // can also have 'filter' and 'transmit'
// (---turbulence---)
//turbulence <0.5, 0.5, 1.0>
//turb_depth 0.5
//omega 0.5
//lambda 2.0
//octaves 6
// (---ground fog---)
//fog_offset 0.5 // height of constant fog
//fog_alt 0.5 // at fog_offset+fog_alt: density=25%
}
