Hi
To my way of thinking there is no connection between the "default" first floor height of 0 (or any other height) and the height of the terrain.
The 0 is just a reference for all other dimensions of the structure itself. Yes?
When designing a structure I may not know it's ultimate relationship to the terrain, so any reference point for measuring the structure will do and the first floor is sort of an obvious choice. You could just as easily use the lowest level floor height as your reference.Regards, Frederick C. Wilt (Began with v9, now using X6 aka v16)

I don't want an 18" foundation. I want an 18" crawl space. The foundation will go to 12" below grade (including the footing) for a total perimeter foundation height with mudsill of 30"
Lewis had the pitcure that looked like that.
I was comenting on that.
Thought I had posted the pitcure of what you were looking for.
Guess not

Louis,
In the CA dbx does the height of the stemwall include the footing?
Also, new problem.
The garage slab does not show up in the foundation plan.
Any ideas?

The slab can be on the foundation level. I put them on the foundation level most of the time.

I did a quick test and it is possible to put all floors below ground.
Here's a pic with 3 floors:

Rachel,
Are you trying to do a monolithic or a slab within foundation walls?
...or are you calling tech support?Last edited by louis; 10-27-2005 at 07:50 PM.

A monolithic slab.
I was not calling tech support.
I was:
1. Picking up my daughter from school
2. Dropping my computer off at the techs for some TLC
3. Dropping off some plans for a client
4. Taking pics of a building I am researching for my historic building analysis class.
5. Eating a veggie quesadilla
6. Helping my son in a desperate search for a last minute Halloween costume
7. Picking my computer back up.

Rachel,
Draw the slab in with the monolithic slab tools. You think I'm kidding right? There are monolithic slab tools.Last edited by louis; 10-27-2005 at 07:37 PM.
