A brief rant
I'm trying to keep my cool on this one but it is annoying me to no end so excuse me while i vent for a bit. If I place an object inside either a plant or a road or sidewalk object it acts like it is under the plant/road/sidewalk. Not only that, but YOU CAN'T TAB TO IT!
So the only option is to turn off the offending object's layer which is an extra step and I hate unnecessary extra steps!
Okay, feel better now.

Yeah, you're right, it is almost Friday! And I have open gym basketball tonight which I always look forward to so that's another thing to be happy about.
Select Next Object doesn't work. It's the same as Tab. For whatever reason, the program doesn't recognise that there's an object under the other object.

Did you try it with the mouse?

Jamon,
It sounds like you're trying to grab the object in plan view. Try to get it in camera or an elevation.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Allen--yes, no workie.
Tommy--the object I'm trying to grab is a text object. Doesn't show in any other view. Plus, that's another step and it's just as easy to just switch to my "No Terrain" layer set.
Here's a screen.

This is not a new problem. It has been mentioned before in Suggestions, so they've got it on a list somewhere. I first noticed it with Driveways - and tab/select next doesn't work... It is annoying.

Tim's suggestion worked. I was using the selection tool (which I prefer).
Thanks, Tim. The selection tool *should* still work, but at least there is a quicker method than changing layer sets.

Jamon,
You didn't mention on your 1st post that you were using text. I would have given the same reply as Tim. You know the same will apply to electrical....if you can't grab an electrical item, activate the electrical button, then you can get the electrical item.

Yeah, Tommy, that helps in specific cases. But that doesn't remove the fact that the "selection tool" doesn't do its job as well as it should. That's what I was complaining about. Probably should have specified "selection tool"--I just assumed most people use that tool to select things since I do.

This feature is new too me also, I have always been using the "selection tool" or the tab and getting frustrated.
This is one to remember.

Most of the time, I have to activate the electrical button to get an electrical item. Depending on where the electrical item is, you have to do it this way in plan view or "grab" it in a camera view. Obviously text will only be seen in plan view, so now you know how to "grab" it. There are actually many things that are hard to grab with the selection tool. I can only think of one time in the last year that I had a molding polyline that I could'nt get my hands on, but generally, once you learn certain tricks, it's not hard.
