How can I get CA to estimate shingles and or siding

I have a good size home where I would like to do a take off for the Roofing Materials and Siding Materials.

How is this done?

Material list=calculate from all floors=then look under the roofing.I dont think it allows for waist,add a few sq for the valleys.
I use it for roofing and it works great.
Not sure on siding, how close that is.

Adding a little more to what Allen has said. If you don't want a lot of extra showing, once you've calculated the Materials List from all floors, go to the Tools Bar above and select Display Options. Uncheck everything except Siding and Roofing. You will still get some unwanted info and you can manually move them out. Also, the program is not going to figure your underlayment or nails, but the underlaymnet should be the same as your sqs. of roofing. The roofing comes out as sq. ft. and I prefer to have mine in sqs. You can use the Unit Conversion under Preferences for this.

I didn't know you could change it to squares.Not that that is realy hard to do in your head.But good to know.
How is it with siding?Will it figuare the lap on wood siding?5"to the weather as 4".

You might draw a 4ft wall section with the type siding you want and open the Component dbx. See if it figures the siding the way you want. It does figure the overlap amount if you have your Material set up that way (Strip) and overlap amount 1". Calculates Lft.
