Open to Below
I have a plan with a loft, so I have a large part of the plan (open to below).
I have a stairway which I have moved many times. The first few time the Open to below worked just fine.
Now when I use the Open to below, chief fails to remove the joist from that section. The large open top below remains open.
Thanks for your help.

Larry,
Did you rebuild walls and ceiling? Have you lost room definition "open below"? Can you show a picture of that floor with the stairs and show the referencing of the floor above that has "open below"?

Yes I have rebuilt foors and ceilings.
I even tried walls in the loft then walls below - aligned with above and it still does not cut the hole in the joist.
I do make sure I don't loose the room definition.
The main part of the open beow is OK.
Could I have something turned off?

the open below does not move with the stairs...those walls need to be manually deleted...
a new stairwell needs to be created. once it is in place, it does not automatically alter any frtaming..you need to rebuild the framing to lose the framing for the old opening and frame a new one ...or do it manually...

Remember that if the room (open below) is not part of an exterior wall, that you need to make a wall (probably invisible) extend from one of the open below walls to an exterior wall. See picture.

Just curious as to the logic behind this requirement ?
Does anyone know why this is ?

You hit the nail on the head.
There needs to be a wall connecting the (open to below) to the exterior wall.
I now remember that from WAY back in Chief 5.0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for all your help.
