    Materials window wont stay put.

I have posted this before, and even had ART trying to come up with an answer - I know someone has had this issue and there must be a solution I have not come up with.

The problem is the materials selection window. When I go to change a material definition, the window opens and is only half visible in the lower left corner of the screen. I need to grab the title bar and drag it on screen to be able to select materials and change them. Every time. Every material change. Cannot get the window to open in it's previous location.

Yes, I have tried placing the window, closing and re-opening Chief.

Yes, I have tried maximizing the screen.

Please help if you can - this is an incredible time waster, not to mention head-banging slam my fingers in a door irritating.

Thanks for considering - I know someone has the answer.

V10.5 - I have had this problem with V10 since installing - prior to any updates. None of the issued updates have helped. I did not have the problem with V9.54 or any of my other Chief installs. I have been using chief since 1997.

ART was sent a screen shot of the problem when I first encountered it. You may have been thinking that I had the resolution set too low and it was coming in off screen because of it, but with the current resolution there is more than enough real estate to keep it in it's location.

Attached is the image I sent to ART showing the exact location the window is in - keep in mind that there is NO change to the window location regardless of where I put it or how I last left it. It will always open as shown.

On 5/15 ART informed me that this was a bug, but with several updates since then either they have not fixed the problem or they have and it is a setting I need to change or something.

I see what you mean. Mine does the same thing. I guess I don't go there that often and didn't pay much attention, but I did drag the box up from the bottom and seems to have fixed it or at least I can get to the bottom selection areas.

Well - with enormous thanks to ambrozac, I have made progress and found out more about my problem.

By sizing the window to fit only in that lower 2/3 right side of the screen, it now re-opens as I have left it - but this was through some strange trial and error. I began by resizing the window really small, and found that it retained it's size and shape - but once it grew past a certain size either vertically from the bottom of the screen or horizontally into the left third of the screen, it would re-open back in the lower right hand corner again.

So, I now have a material selection window that I do not have to move every time I use it, but can't be any larger than 40% of the screen nor beyond the boundaries explained.

    So now, any other suggestions?

I'm glad I could help to some degree, but I ran up against the same limits as you have. Maybe there will be more suggestions to come.
