    site plan survey data

I have a designer client that wants terrain for the model I built in Chief.

I'm having a problem entering the proeprty lines. The problem is, the line distance and angle data entered is exactly right... except that it looks like I'm looking at the property lines from the other side of the grass. In other words, the plot plan looks right in Chief, if I turn the printed plot plan over and hold it up to the light.

The house is in Hawaii. Does that make any difference? If it does, how do I correct for it?

Was the site plan designed by someone in the Southern Hemisphere? LOL Sorry, couldn't resist.

The site plan was drawn by a prominant architect in Hawaii.
The same architect responsible for producing the worst floor plan I have ever seen.
    Ever.
I mean, doors opening into walls, goofy dimensions that don't always match, etc.
The house on the site plan and the one on the floor plan don't even match.

I fixed the house easily (and I can put any house on the lot), but it's the plot plan angles that are goofy.

Like I said, when I'm done, it's as if the plot plan is correct except you're looking at it from the wrong side of the grass.

I've never had this problem on mainland houses, I've done a couple of terrains from plot plans.

I guess I'll have to go up the line to whoever gave me this plot plan.

I know the guy and the type. These are the clowns that say "that part is up to field verification" which means "I have no bloody clue but *YOU* will make it all right in the field becuse that is your job because you are the carpenter." Did a lot of work for that archie. Seems like s/he really gets around.

No, you don't understand... a high school kid could have produced a better floor plan.
In fact, it didn't really even look like a floor plan, it was 8 sheets of typing paper pasted together with sone dark lines for walls and haphazard dimensions. It was truly horrifying.

    Hi Jason,

I’m not sure I understand your problem. It sounds like you have the mirror image of what you need. So why not just reflect it?

Yeah, that sounds about right. I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks! Not sure why it isn't right in the first place, but anything that gets the job done.

    Property lines

I am trying my own property line too and it's wants to twist everything around.

Is there a procedure to follow?

What if you select reverse angle in the dialog box?

    Thanks,
    Rick

    Jason,
You may be aware of this already, but..........
A line's bearing can be described 2 ways, depending on which end you start from.
A line that is described as N45d15'33"E can also be described as S45d15'33"W.
When you have a site plan drawing w/ line bearings, you have to be aware of this as you draw the lot perimeter.
If you have a legal description only, they usually start at a known location (benchmark, witness post- I'm not sure of the correct terminology) & you just enter the information provided.
Don't know if this is applicable in your situation...........thought I'd throw it out there.

    Jim
    Thanks, Jim

Try placing and orienting a north pointer line. This can be found under Cad->Special->North Pointer.

    Check this out

This procedure sets up the correct settings first!

I have added this to my favorites. Very important for doing property lines!
