    Laser Roof Tools

If you like the idea of using the laser method of doing manual roofs in version 10 I recommend changing the move handle color to red. You can find this setting in edit/preferences/Appearance/Colors/Move Color. Change this to red. Then when you project an edge a red laser beam will show you where the plane intersects.

Hi louis great tip, I have a setup on an addition just like this where the addition has a higher ceiling hirght than the main house. I tried a auto build roof and it would not do it. It wanted to creat a hip roof on the valley side with a creket in between. Have you had any problem with triing to gen. auto matic roof?

97 1/8 main roof and 108 1/8 addition. Works fine if ceil both set at 97 1/8. The overview is with a wider addition shown.

    David,

Did you notice that your ridge on the front is higher than the main ridge?

I done that to see how it would do tiing back into main ridge on house, it done real good, I have done this alot on additions where addition is wider than house. That is actually the creket you are seeing coming off the hip it created, see the hip rafters to the front of the roof. Really strange
