Invisible material for walls, and the vector views

I made a wall invisible, not by designating it as such in the wall spec dialog under GENERAL> OPTIONS, but by making its material as INSULATION>Opening (no material).

Vector views show it as opaque white, not invisible.

Is there another material I should be using to make the wall invisible in vector view?

Any 100% transparent material (Insulation-Air Gap is one) will be invisible in in Perspective Views but not in Orthographic Views. The only way I know of making that happen is to place the object on a special layer that you can turn off.

Thanks, Joe. What I have found to work, sort of, for elevation views, is to use the DELETE SURFACE tool on the offending wall, and that the view, if sent to layout , turns out as one would want.

What I am doing is burying storefront inside such a wall, and want the storefront to show in elevations.

I use a Panel Railing Wall for Storefronts. I create an opening in the normal wall the sized of the storefront and then just move the Storefront Railing Wall into place.

That basically eliminates all the problems you are encountering.

I saw Suggestions first and replied there. I believe you just need to edit your "Opening (no material)", to have a "Gap" material type, rather than what it is now, "Area".

My gosh, did Cliff solve the problem of the white solid . I will look into if tomorrow.

Yes, I believe he did. I tried it starting with a "Shower Wall". That Wall Type uses a 100% transparent GAP Material and is invisible in both orthographic and perspective views.

Thanks Joe & Scott. FWIW, "Area" will calculate material to the Materials List, whereas "Gap" doesn't.
