Here is a procedure to allow the display of flooring patterns in your floorplan view without drawing any CAD.
1. Assign floor patterns in the materials tab of the room definition dbx. Shift the patterns in the X or Y direction by adjusting the origin in the pattern tab.
2. Generate a “Vector Floor Overview” camera, and then select “Top View”. You should see your floor patterns.

3. Select ”Cad Detail From View”. Think of this command as a snap shot of your screen, with the result stored in a 2D Cad Detail Window.

4. Now turn off “Default Cad Layer Lines”, leaving only the floor pattern lines showing. Block these patterns and assign the block to a new layer called “Floor Patterns” change the color to gray, and select "Back Group".

5. Copy the block, then return to the plan window and click “Paste Hold Position”. Floor patterns can now be turned on or off with the “Floor Patterns” layer. (Not all the lines are showing on this "screen capture".)

NOTES:
1. If advanced deck framing was used as in this example, it must be selected in the Cad Detail and assigned to the Default Cad Layer Patterns layer before turning off Default Cad Layer Lines.
2. Countertop patterns may project outside of the base cabinet face. This is a result of the overview camera seeing the full countertop including the overhang. We could select these overhang lines and add them to the Default Cad Layer Patterns layer as well. Alternatively, we could set the default countertop O/H to 0” before starting as I did here.
